Five outstanding individuals will speak at hooding ceremonies performed by Campbell University professional schools-law, education, business, pharmacy and divinity. Scheduled at various times during the day on Sunday, May 8, are Judge John M. Tyson, of the North Carolina Court of Appeals; Dr. James Ellerbe, Campbell University’s vice president for business and treasurer; Dunn businessman and entrepreneur Irvin Warren; Bruce Roberts, executive vice president of the National Community Pharmacists Association; and Dr. Mark Olson, senior pastor of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church.A member of the charter class of Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, Judge John Tyson is the 2004 recipient of the James Iredell Award presented by Campbell’s Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity for his significant contributions to the law profession. He was elected to the N.C. Court of Appeals in 2001. Tyson will deliver the keynote address for the law school hooding service at 1 p.m. in Turner Auditorium of D. Rich Memorial Hall. Dr. James Ellerbe, a former superintendent of the Johnston County Schools, has made education a lifelong career. Ellerbe started as a history and English teacher in Hopewell, Va., and spent 17 years in the North Carolina community college system before becoming a school superintendent. He came to Campbell in 1993. Ellerbe will speak at the hooding service for the School of Education at 1 p.m. in Ellis Theater of the Rogers Fine Arts Center. Dunn businessman and entrepreneur Irvin Warren founded Warren Oil Company with $14,000 from his own savings account. Currently the company projects over $290 million in sales and operates plants in North Carolina, Alabama, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Arkansas. Warren will deliver the address for the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business at 1:30 p.m. in Scott Concert Hall of the Rogers Fine Arts Center. Bruce Roberts, owner and operator of a community pharmacy in Leesburg, Va., has been recognized for his innovation and excellence in community pharmacy practice. Roberts serves as the executive vice president of the National Community Pharmacists Association. He will speak at the hooding service for the School of Pharmacy at 3 p.m. in Turner Auditorium of D. Rich Memorial Hall. The senior pastor at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Dr. Mark Olson served as first vice president of the Baptist General Association of Virginia and as president of the Virginia Baptist Pastors Conference. He is the author of three books and numerous articles on the New Testament. Olson will speak at the Divinity School hooding service at 3 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek. Campbell is expected to confer approximately 700 degrees at the graduation service on Monday, May 9, at 9 a.m. on the Academic Circle in front of D. Rich Memorial Hall.
