Buies Creek, N.C.-Todd Scarborough, long time director of Campbell University’s Service Enterprises, now Photo Graphics, has died. Scarborough passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
A veteran newspaperman and former photographer for United Press International, Scarborough left a position with the Hamlet News Company, owner of eight newspapers in the Carolinas, to join the Campbell staff. His work also appeared in the international magazines “Sports Illustrated” and “Time.”
At the time Scarborough took over, Service Enterprises was a newly created department designed to consolidate the functions of photography, graphic arts, printing and audio-visual service. Scarborough and his wife Elva, who came on board as assistant director in 1970, built the department into a multi-functional arm of the university, serving approximately 70 departments, hundreds of staff and faculty members and thousands of students.
The Scarboroughs retired from Campbell in 2006 after 37 years of service. During that time they received many honors, including the establishment of a scholarship in their name by the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business Trust Education Foundation and the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law’s Student Bar Association Service Award. Scarborough is survived by his wife Elva, four sons and five grandchildren.
