Alumni, faculty and staff greeted hundreds of freshmen at the traditional New Student Convocation held in Turner Auditorium on Aug. 19.The 121st incoming class was introduced to their Student Government President, Chris Haigler, who said the students were now officially part of the student body.”You are part of the Campbell family,” said Haigler. “During your years here you will make friends that will last a lifetime.”Campbell University President Dr. Jerry Wallace challenged the students to work hard and push themselves until graduation day.”I’m already looking towards your graduation day when you’ll receive your hard earned degree,” said Wallace. “On that day you’ll be a more confident person. Campbell believes in you and education.”The deans of Campbell’s six colleges presented each student with a medallion, which symbolizes the University’s commitment and purpose. The medallions, provided by the Alumni Association, are engraved with the Campbell University seal.”Coming to Campbell is a great opportunity for me,” said Corey Sanford who is majoring in Criminal Justice.Transfer student, Sarah Ligett said, “I am excited to continue my education at Campbell.”Photo Caption- Students file out of D.
