RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law Director of Student Life & Pro Bono Opportunities Beth Froehling will co-present a two-part session on domestic violence for practitioners during the Festival of Legal Learning continuing legal education (CLE) event, Feb. 14-15. The program is hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
Froehling and Sherry Honeycutt Everett will present “A Toolbox for Domestic Violence Practitioners” in two parts. The first session, “Dynamics and Legal Remedies,” will include an overview of the dynamics and prevalence of domestic violence in the state, as well as civil and criminal legal remedies. The second session, “Appellate Summaries & Legislative Updates,” will include a summary of legislative changes to laws related to domestic violence within the state during the last two legislative sessions, as well as the residual impact on practice as a result.
“I am excited to participate in the Festival of Learning and discuss domestic violence within North Carolina,” said Froehling. “It is my hope that these presentations will allow us to better prepare attorneys to advocate for and protect victims of domestic violence throughout the state.”
Froehling and Everett previously co-presented on domestic violence dynamics, legal remedies and legislative updates last October at a CLE in Durham.
The Festival of Legal Learning is a diverse program allowing participants to earn 12 hours of CLE credit. The program is designed to build basics, sharpen skills, provide prospective and highlight new developments in the field of law. Click here for more information.
