From Beethoven to Clapton, Jazz and Percussion ensembles heat up Campbell stage

Buies Creek, N.C.—CampbellUniversity’s Jazz and Percussion Ensembles are set to perform on the Scott Concert Hall stage on Tuesday, April 12, at 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

The ensembles will explore a variety of styles from classic Beethoven to a Latin mambo. The 22-member Percussion Ensemble, made up of both music and non-music majors, will perform Beethoven Sonatina with a style twist, the Latin “Mambolicious,” and a contemporary work called “T Minus 5.” The Jazz Ensemble will focus purely on 20th century Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues and Pop, including a tribute to the phenomenal Blues Brothers and charts by Sting, Eric Clapton, Christina Aguilera, Faith Hill, Santana and Van Morrison.

“There is sure to be a style of music to please every individual taste,” said Dr. Dwayne Wilson, Director of Bands and Instrumental Studies. “We hope everyone will come out for a night of musical fun.”
