Fubara speaks of Campbell’s history at Founder’s Day

Buies Creek, N.C.- Nearly 125 years after J.A. Campbell established Buies Creek Academy in a small Harnett County community, Campbell University is now one of the premier institutions of private higher education in North Carolina. Dr. Edward Fubara, of the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, recounted the rich history of Campbell University during the Founder’s Day celebration on Monday, Feb. 7 in Turner Auditorium.

Fubara described the harsh social, economic and academic landscapes of Harnett County when Dr. Campbell established his school.  Speaking of Campbell’s resolve and determination to provide educational opportunities for all students interested in learning, Fubara likened the educator to the Apostle Paul and his desire to serve Christ in all things and move forward to advance the Kingdom of God.  Fubara encouraged students to learn from the examples of men like Paul and Campbell.

“We must learn from the past, but we can’t afford to get stuck there.  We’ve all had failures and made mistakes,” said Fubara.  “Many of you have also had successes and achievements in the past, but we can’t afford to get stuck there either.”

Fubara is the director of the Master of Business Administration program at Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business.  He is a member of the SBTDC Advisory Board and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Benin in Nigeria. He earned his MBA and Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
