Gen. Steve Eveker ’86 to deliver Barden Forum Lecture 2/11

BUIES CREEK — Gen. Steve Eveker, a 1986 graduate of Campbell University, will deliver the Department of History, Criminal Justice and Political Sciences’ annual Barden Forum Lecture Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7:40 p.m. in Maddox Hall’s Harris Teeter Auditorium. 
Eveker was promoted to brigadier general in the U.S. Army Reserves in September 2014, and is currently the Commanding General of the Deployment Support Command in Birmingham, Alabama, and the Deputy Commanding General for Mobilization for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command at the Scott Air Force, in Illinois.
The title of Eveker’s Barden Forum Lecture Wednesday is “Military Deployment & Mobilization Issues, Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA).”
After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Government from Campbell in May 1986, Eveker was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. He also holds a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger and Jumpmaster schools.
He is a combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He most recently returned to the U.S. in February 2014 after a one-year tour in Kabul, Afghanistan.
His awards and decorations include the following: Legion of Merit Medal, Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
He was also named one of the Department of History, Criminal Justice and Political Sciences’ 2014 Distinguished Alumni. 
In his civilian career, Eveker has worked for the past 25 years in the petroleum industry. In 2008, he formed Eveker Diversified Industrial Services, which specializes in petroleum consulting, marketing and transportation services.
He resides in Evans, Georgia, with his wife, Julia, and their two children: Evan and Sarah.
