BUIES CREEK – The band that provided the soundtrack for many a college experience in the 90s is coming to Campbell University this spring.
The Goo Goo Dolls, renowned for hits like “Iris,” “Slide” and “Name” will play the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center at 8 p.m. on April 17. Doors will open at 7.
Formed in 1986 in Buffalo, N.Y., the band hit the bigtime in 1995 with the album “A Boy Named Goo” and the single, “Name.” The album sold more than two million copies, but the band hit its peak in 1998 with “Iris,” which spent an impressive 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
Tickets for the show will go on pre-sale for Campbell students, faculty and staff on Feb. 25, and to the general public on Feb. 27. Tickets are free for full-time, main campus undergraduate students and $25 otherwise ($30 on the day of the show). The show will have general admission, standing-room tickets on the floor in addition to arena reserved seating.
