Greenawalt named Distinguished Campbell History Alumnus

Jason Greenawalt, of Alexandria, Va., was named a Distinguished History Alumnus of Campbell University’s Department of Government, History and Justice during Homecoming events on Oct. 21. Greenawalt joined the staff of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Fleet Readiness and Logistics in 2006. Prior to entering federal service, he was chief operating officer for H. Greenawalt and Associates, a small institutional food service start-up company that eventually grew to $2.5 million in revenues before being liquidated in 2005. Greenawalt received a Bachelor of Arts in history and education from Campbell University in 2003 and was presented the History Student of the Year award for 2002-2003. He is currently a candidate for a Master of Public Policy degree at George Washington University. While he was at Campbell, Greenawalt was named to the president’s list for academic excellence and was a member of the wrestling team. Greenawalt’s professional career with the Navy began in 2003 as an intern in the Centralized Financial Management Training program, a structured program designed to provide training in all aspects of Navy financial management and budgeting. As a member of the program Greenawalt played a key role in the command’s Workplace Shaping initiative, leading an effort to transform the office organizational structure and create a workforce that would be better able to respond to program requirements while reducing operating costs.Photo Copy: Jason Greenawalt, second from left, receives the Distinguished History Alumnus award during Campbell University’s Homecoming events.
