History, Criminal Justice & Political Science Department recognizes 3 alumni

BUIES CREEK, North Carolina – The Department of History, Criminal Justice, & Political Science at Campbell University recognized three alumni with distinguished alumni awards during its annual alumni brunch during Campbell’s Homecoming weekend. They were:

  • Kate Cloxton, a patrol officer;
  • John-Mark M. Mitchell, owner of Mitchell Prime Properties; and
  • Robert N. Thigpen, an attorney

Criminal Justice

Katelyn Cloxton, ’12

Katelyn “Kate” Cloxton graduated Campbell University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. She was a three-year starter for the Women’s Basketball team and still holds the university’s record for 3-point field goals made. Upon graduation, she joined the Charleston Police Department in South Carolina and continues to serve Charleston as a Bicycle Patrol Officer.

History

Robert N. Thigpen, ’96, ’00 JD

A native of Clinton, North Carolina, Thigpen graduated summa cum laude from Campbell in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He went on to complete his law degree from Campbell Law School in 2000. Today, he serves as the Assistant District Attorney for the Fourth Prosecutorial District for North Carolina.

Political Science

John-Mark M. Mitchell, ’89

Mitchell graduated Campbell University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. He was very active in the Student Government Association, including serving as the President of SGA during his senior year. He is the founder and owner of a luxury real estate firm called Mitchell Prime Properties in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
