Buies Creek, N.C. – Though it may be the heart of Mardi Gras, New Orleans will not be the only city swaying to the rhythm of jazz music when the Hotsey Totsey Dixieland Jazz Band takes the stage at Campbell University’s Scott Concert Hall at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23.
Their performance, “Tribute to New Orleans,” is presented by the Cape Fear Friends of the Fine Arts.
The band, formerly known as the Moore Square Dixielanders, formed in 1991 and features Dr. Ran Whitley, bass, and Don Martin, clarinet and saxophone, both Campbell faculty members. Completing the ensemble are New Orleans performers Dave Spencer and Tommy Smith.
In addition to being a part of the North Carolina Arts Council’s esteemed touring program, the Hotsey Totsey Dixieland Jazz Band has also performed in New Orleans, England and Paris.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15.
