Haven Allison Hottel, of Raleigh, N.C., has joined Campbell University’s Public Information Office as director of University Communications and Publications. Hottel worked as a news producer for television station WNCN NBC17 in Raleigh prior to coming to Campbell. A Campbell alumna, Hottel graduated summa cum laude from the university in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Broadcast Production. She is happy to be part of a new chapter of growth for the university. “I’m excited to be a part of the changes that are happening around campus,” she said. “As a television producer, I spent a lot of time coordinating my news crews and developing news judgment to produce stories that were important to viewers. I look forward to applying these same skills at Campbell.” As director of Communications and Publications, Hottel’s responsibilities include the daily direction of the dissemination of university information to the public, as well as the daily guidance of news publications. She will also serve as an advisor to student publications “The Pine Burr” yearbook and “The Campbell Times” newspaper. Since graduating from Campbell, Hottel has acquired an extensive background in broadcast production. From 2001- 06, she worked as senior producer at WLFL WB22 in Raleigh as primary newscast producer for weekday 10 p.m. newscasts and was an associate producer at WNCN NBC-17 in Raleigh from Feb.- Jun. 2001. In addition, Hottel worked as a broadcast technician, operating studio cameras for morning and evening newscasts and serving as a tape operator and floor director during morning broadcasts.
