In Memoriam – Thomas Abraham, 1964-2017

Campbell University 2016 Winter Commencement

With sympathy and sadness, Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences announces the passing of Dr. Thomas Abraham, PhD, associate professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, on April 16, 2017.

He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Mars Hill College and a PhD in biomedical sciences/pharmacology from East Tennessee State University. He joined the CPHS faculty in 2000. His research interests included the molecular determinants of skeletal muscle differentiation especially with respect to calcium-dependent signaling. Additional interests included molecular mechanisms by which calcium mediated specific cellular processes via specific calcium-activated enzymes.

Dr. Abraham was a very caring person who showed great compassion to others facing cancer treatment or who had serious health problems. His door was always open to them. During his illness, he continued to have a sense of humor and would make people at ease. He will be remembered for his strength of character and his unfailing love of the Lord.
