In-person commencement to return in May

Campbell University will celebrate graduates of its Class of 2021 at the outdoor Barker-Lane Stadium — and for law, the Red Hat Amphitheater — in May, marking a return to in-person commencement ceremonies for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

Graduation ceremonies will run from May 6 to May 8, with a ceremony for 2020 graduates tentatively scheduled for May 9.

Planned ceremonies are as follows:

  • Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine, May 6, 10 a.m., Barker-Lane Stadium
  • Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, May 7, 10 a.m., Red Hat Amphitheater, Raleigh
  • College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, May 7, 3 p.m., Barker-Lane Stadium
  • College of Arts & Sciences (Main Campus and AOE), May 8, 9 a.m., Barker-Lane Stadium
  • Divinity, Engineering, Business, Education (Main Campus and AOE), May 8, 3 p.m., Barker-Lane Stadium

For 2020 graduates, plans are quickly coming together for a celebratory ceremony on Sunday, May 9 in Barker-Lane Stadium. Graduates will be permitted to reserve tickets for up to two guests. More details will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Events at Barker-Lane Stadium will require ticketed assigned seating. Guest tickets will be limited and quantities may vary by ceremony, depending on the number of participants. For planning purposes, current projections will allow for at least two guests per graduate. However, finalized ticket numbers for individual ceremonies will be communicated by ceremony coordinators.

Under North Carolina’s COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing and face coverings will be required for all events. All ceremonies at Barker-Lane Stadium will be live-streamed.

Additional details including finalized ticket numbers and ticketing instructions will be communicated to graduates no later than April 16.

These events will occur rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather, the events will be moved to a virtual format.

As with any event or plan during pandemic times, the University continues to monitor ever-changing conditions and local, state and federal health guidelines. The arrangements detailed in this message may be subject to change, depending on public health conditions and state regulations.
