Incident in Kitchin Residence Hall

At approximately 4:30 am, what appears to be an exam week prank with a homemade noise maker occurred in Kitchin Residence Hall. No one was injured. There was no physical damage to the building.Upon notification of the incident, the dormitory was immediately evacuated and Harnett County authorities inspected the building to ensure no further threats remained. The dormitory has since been reopened to students at approximately 7:30 am.In the professional opinion of law enforcement on the scene, it was not necessary to alert the entire campus community at the time of the incident.Campbell University’s Code of Conduct for students prohibits the “Possession and/or use of weapons, fireworks and explosives.”The safety and well-being of our students is of the highest importance to the University.We are cooperating with the Harnett County Sheriff’s department, as they conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
