International Week- a taste of the world

Each March, Campbell University and the International Admissions Office hosts International Week, celebrating cultural diversity on campus with several events throughout the week, Mar. 19-24. All events are free and open to public. Besides enhancing diversity, the celebration builds cultural awareness among the students and allows them to exchange information by sharing ideas and perspectives about different cultures in our international community. “We try to organize different and new events each year to present the best of every country,” said Petra Carlzen, senior International Admissions Counselor. The week of activities also serves as a social melting pot for both domestic and international students to mingle and to get to know each other. The range of events allows the students and faculty to taste new food, to listen to an array of music, and dance to a new beat. . This year’s International Week will kick off with the ” Festival de Baloncesto,” a regional basketball tournament on Sunday, Mar. 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Carter Gym. Other events throughout the week include Belly and Latino Dance Class on Monday, Mar. 20, at 8:00 p.m. at the International Student Center (ISC); “Motorcycle Diaries,” an International Movie Night on Tuesday, Mar. 21, at 8:00 p.m. at ISC; Japanese Theme Night on Wednesday, Mar. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at ISC; European Theme Night on Thursday, Mar. 23, at 6:00 p.m. at ISC; and “Hotel Rwanda,” an International Movie Night on Friday, Mar. 24, at 8:00p.m. at ISC.
