Jennifer Webb Memorial 5k Run celebrates a life

Sponsoredby the Athletic Training Club, the run celebrates the life of Jennifer Webb, a 22-year-old certified athletic trainer who was completing a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) at Campbell when she was killed in an automobile accident in 2000.

“Jennifer Webb had a passion for life and the profession of Athletic Training,” said Catherine Simonson, director of the Athletic Training EducationProgram (ATEP) and advisor to the club. “Jennifer was a dedicated teacher, mentor, student, friend and athletic trainer. She did it right and that makes all the difference.”

Athletic trainers are health care professionals who work in a variety of settings and with all kinds of people—not just athletes. They practice under the direction and in collaboration with physicians and specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of physical injuries and illnesses. Athletic trainers work as physician extenders, in clinics, hospitals, corporations, industry, military, performing arts, as well as in schools, colleges, and professional sports.
