John Locke Foundation discusses think tanks at Campbell Business

Campbell University 2016 Winter Commencement

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell Business Adam Smith Club, along with Lundy Chair Dr. Boris Abbey, hosted a speaker event with the John Locke Foundation to give students insight into the world of think tanks. John Locke Foundation President Corey Swanson discussed the importance of think tanks and their impact on public policy during a visit to campus on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The John Locke Foundation, located in nearby Raleigh, is a think tank whose mission is to promote free market enterprise. During the lecture, Swanson explained that there are 1,800 think tanks throughout the United States and that every state has at least one free market think tank.

Students were able to apply what they learned regarding think tanks to their own career goals. Freshman Trust and Wealth Management major Kristen Mott was inspired by Swanson.

“Corey Swanson’s presentation about think tanks opened my mind to new possibilities to collaborate with others both inside and outside of the work place,” said Mott.
