Johnson named Campbell University Distinguished Business Alumnus

Buies Creek, N.C.—BB&T trust management banker Kim Johnson (’75/’80) was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the school’s opening convocation service.

Johnson, of Wilson, N.C., is the Administrative and Fiduciary Manager for BB&T’s Wealth Division. He graduated from Campbell University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration from Campbell in 1980. Johnson is an honor graduate of the American Bar Association’s National Graduate Trust School of Northwestern University and a graduate of the Bank Executive program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. “This is a very rewarding and a very humbling experience,” Johnson said. “My history with Campbell University goes back over many years, beginning when I was in junior high school and my Beta Club advisor told me to investigate the Campbell Trust program. It only took a couple of hours to conclude that Campbell was a wonderful place and where I was meant to be.”

A community volunteer, Johnson has served numerous civic and professional organizations as president, vice president or member of the board. Some of these organizations include the United Way, the American Red Cross, the Boy Scouts of America, the Kiwanis Club, North Carolina Bankers Association and the North Carolina Bar Association. He has also authored several articles for various estate and trust publications. He is a past president of the Campbell University National Alumni Association Board of Directors and currently serves as a member of the board, a member of the School of Business Dean’s Advisory Council and has served aschairman of Campbell’s Trust Education Foundation among other responsibilities.

Johnson is a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson where he is active on the Board of Deacons and the Administrative Committee. He is married to the former Karen Oliver. They are the parents of two sons, Mark, 28, and Robb, 24.
