Judge Ridgeway receives Judge Robinson O. Everett Award from Delta Theta Phi

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Campbell Law School chapter of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity has presented The Honorable Paul C. Ridgeway with the Judge Robinson O. Everett Award for Legal Excellence. Judge Ridgeway, a 1986 Campbell Law graduate, received the award at the annual Judge Robinson O. Everett Awards Gala and Professionalism Dinner at the City Club in downtown Raleigh on Nov. 12.

Judge Ridgeway is a Resident Superior Court Judge of the 10th Judicial District of N.C., presiding over felony criminal trials, civil matters and administrative appeals arising from various state agencies. He has presided in courts in over 30 counties in N.C., and has been appointed by the Chief Justice to adjudicate exceptional and complex commercial and constitutional matters throughout the state.

Raised in Raleigh, he received his B.S. degree (’82) and a Masters of Public Administration (’90) from NC State University. Judge Ridgeway received his J.D., cum laude, from Campbell Law (’86), where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Campbell Law Review. Following graduation he received a fellowship to study the law of the European Community at the University of Amsterdam and was awarded a degree.

For two decades, Judge Ridgeway was engaged in private practice, focusing on a wide variety of commercial litigation, commercial transaction, and administrative law matters. For more than 15 years, he has also been an adjunct professor at Campbell Law, teaching a seminar in Law and Public Policy and a seminar on International Commercial Litigation.

In 2002, Judge Ridgeway served as President of the Wake County Bar Association and President of the 10th Judicial District Bar. He has served in a number of leadership positions in the North Carolina Bar Association, including Vice President in 2012-13. He currently serves on the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism.

Judge Ridgeway is also active in civic and educational organizations. In 2000 he was appointed by the Governor as a commissioner to the Rural Internet Access Authority. From 2004 to 2014, he served on the Board of Directors of the NC State Alumni Association and, in 2013, was President of the Alumni Association. He currently is a member of the University’s Board of Visitors.
