Buies Creek, N.C.—Borree Kwok has been named dean of Campbell University’s Wiggins Memorial Library. Kwok has served as Director of Library Services since August 2008.
A native of Hong Kong, Kwok received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash., and a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She first came to Campbell in 1993 as a catalog librarian and later held library positions as head of Technical Services and Systems and Director of Institutional Research.
Kwok supervised the library’s move to its newly renovated quarters adjacent to Kivett Hall in June 2010 and oversees a multitude of services the library is now able to provide, including a large inventory of state-of-the-art technologies designed to aid students.
Kwok believes her most essential responsibilities as dean include providing visionary leadership for the library in support of the University’s mission, promoting and collaborating with the University community and beyond and strategically managing all aspects of the library’s operation.
“I want to help empower the Campbell community to succeed through the library’s collections, facilities and services,” Kwok said. “I seek to move toward the library of the future by anticipating the needs of our library users and lead the Campbell community in the use of emerging information resources and library technologies.”
Kwok also said she wants to balance support of the library’s traditional collections and services with the development of new strategies to support learning, teaching and scholarship. One of her primary goals is to ensure that the library is an active learning space that is at the center of the University’s academic life.
Kwok and her husband Siuki Wong are the parents of two children, Eugene and Seraphina Wong.
