Landi named Outstanding Physical Education Major of the Year

Buies Creek, N.C. — On March 18, senior Dillon Landi was recognized by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) as Campbell University’s Outstanding Physical Education Major of the Year.

The award honors exemplary students majoring in physical education, sport management, athletic training, and the sub-disciplines of kinesiology at colleges and universities involved in pre-professional programs.

“It is such an amazing opportunity to be selected for this award,” said Landi. “This has really added to my drive and aspirations as a physical educator.”

Over 200 students from around the nation were recognized in a ceremony and reception held during the 125th Annual Convention of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) in Indianapolis, Ind.

The selection is based on recommendations from advisors and professors at each college or university.

“[The Department of Exercise Science] has helped me develop as a student, a professional, and more importantly, a person,” said Landi. “They are the reason I was selected, because they have prepared me to achieve in the classroom, in the field and in future studies.”

At Campbell, Landi has been involved in NASPE, AAHPERD, Student Government and Varsity Athletics. Landi was named to the Dean’s List for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 and the President’s List for the Fall 2009 semester.

Following graduation, Landi will attend Columbia University’s Teacher’s College in New York City to pursue a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching in Physical Education.

He is the son of Alexander and Nadine Landi of Wayne, N.J.
