Letter from President Jerry Wallace regarding inclement weather

Campbell Students, Parents, Faculty and Staff,

Thank you for patience over the last few days as the Campbell University community has adjusted to the inclement weather sent our way.  While we did see plenty of snow, the ice was minimal and power remained on for the majority of campus during the storm.

The safety of our campus community and well-being of our students are of primary importance to the University.  Our grounds and road crews have been working throughout the storm to ensure that walkways, steps, and parking lots are clear.  Our Residence Life team has also been working to ensure that our residential students have what the need, are well fed, and warm! Additionally, more than 800 students braved the cold and snow last evening to cheer on the basketball team who defeated Presbyterian College.

Marshbanks Cafeteria is currently open and will remain open until 8 PM this evening.  Both the POD and convenient store in Sauls residence hall are also open.  The Oasis and Chick-Fil-A should be open this afternoon.

The Holding Fitness Center will be open today from 12 noon to 5 pm, and Carter Gym will be open 1 pm to 5 pm for our students.

To allow for time to clear the field, Friday and Saturday’s baseball series against La Salle has been shifted to begin on Saturday.

Though some roadways leading to campus remain slick, we expect temperatures to warm up significantly over the next few days.

I am very CAMPBELL GRATEFUL AND PROUD for the tireless and good work of our staff and for the safety and well-being of our Campbell family during a very challenging time.

A determination regarding the resumption of normal classes and operations for the University will be made in the next few hours.  We take each and every one of our students, faculty and staff members into consideration when determining a closing and delay.

In the meantime – enjoy the beautiful snowscape and stay warm!

Sincerely,

Jerry M. Wallace
President
