Linden resident elected to Campbell Board of Trustees

Buies Creek, N.C.-J.J. (Jack) Barnes, of Linden, N.C. has been elected to the Campbell University Board of Trustees for a term of three years.

A retired businessman, Barnes was the owner of J.J. Barnes, Inc., a mechanical contracting company specializing in commercial, industrial and residential plumbing projects. He is currently engaged in land development opportunities.

Barnes graduated from North Carolina State University earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1949. He and his wife, the former Doris Pleasant of Angier, N.C., are active members of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, where Barnes has served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and member of the church choir.

The Barnes are the parents of two daughters, Julia Sherron, of Lexington, N.C., and Beth Dent, of Woodlake, N.C. They have six grandchildren.

For relaxation, Barnes enjoys hunting and horses. Barnes has also served a previous term on the Campbell Board of Trustees.
