Buies Creek, N.C.-Local entrepreneur Carlie C. McLamb and his wife Joyce will serve as grand marshals of the Campbell University Homecoming Parade on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m.
The McLambs are the owners of Carlie C’s IGA , a 12-store retail grocery store chain in eastern North Carolina. He is the largest IGA retailer in the state and ranks among the largest in nation.
Involved in his community, Mr. McLamb serves on the board of directors of New Century Bank and has been active in the Leslie Methodist Church, the Central Carolina Community College Foundation, the Dunn Area Planning Board, the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce, the Averasboro Fire Department, the Mary Stewart Lions Club and the Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital Board of Trustees, among other organizations. He has also served on Campbell University’s Presidential Board of Advisors.
Among his many honors and awards are the titles Methodist University’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, Small Business of the Year, the Melvin Jones Lions Club award and Campbell University’s Presidential Medallion.
The McLambs opened their first store in 1961 and, in 1962, moved the store to Dunn.
