Medical Residents Welcome Dr. Judith Tintinalli as the Program’s First Visiting Professor

Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine’s Emergency Medicine residency program at Southeastern Health welcomed Dr. Judith Tintinalli as the program’s first Visiting Professor this month.
Dr. Tintinalli is Professor and founding Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department, is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health, and is a Guest Lecturer in Medical Journalism in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of North Carolina.  
Dr. Tintinalli is a former president of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (1989-1990) and founding president of the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors.  Additionally, she is editor in chief of the world’s largest selling emergency medicine textbook, Tintinalli’s Emergency Medicine in its 8th (2015) McGraw Hill edition.
Dr. Tintinalli presented on “The Strengths and Talents of Emergency Medicine” during grand rounds followed by a round-table lunch with the EM residents and faculty.  
“It was a real honor to have Dr. Tintinalli come speak at our hospital,” said Dr. Bill Gartlan, resident at Southeastern.  “We use her emergency medicine book every week!  She has vast experience in emergency medicine, and we really enjoyed hearing from her about the past, present, and future issues of emergency medicine.”
“Dr. Tintinalli is not only a luminary in the field of Emergency Medicine, but also a genuine advocate for the future of our specialty locally, nationally, and globally,” said Dr. Elizabeth Gignac, EM Residency program director at Southeastern Health.  “Her visit and vision helped to solidify our mission to be a center of academic and clinical excellence.”
