Medical School takes home national awards for communications efforts

The School of Osteopathic Medicine received three awards this year for their communications and marketing efforts designed to build community on and off-campus. The awards were granted by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) Marketing and Communications Council, and included a first place award in public health advertising, a first place award for 2020 graduation efforts and a second place award for the 2020 annual report.

Each year, more than 70 entries are reviewed and award winners are chosen by an expert panel of judges—consisting of AACOM’s Marketing and Communications team, AACOM senior staff members, and guest judges who specialize in all areas of communication. Entries are judged on creativity and effectiveness in fulfilling the mission of each submitting osteopathic medical school.  Comprised of communications professionals from the 37 schools across the country, AACOM’s Annual Excellence in Communications Awards panel of judges has previously recognized the medical school for video, social media and print campaigns in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Executive Director of External Affairs and Alumni Engagement Sarah Bowman was proud to accept the awards, and made sure to credit marketing contractor Shelley Hobbs from Studio Roho in Cary, NC, for her work on the medical school’s marketing campaigns.

“It is such an honor to be recognized by our peer institutions for some of the most important efforts of the past year,” Bowman said. “Shelley is incredibly talented and a fantastic collaborator.  Together, with the support and contributions of other staff, we enjoyed each project despite the difficult circumstances and unbelievable timelines of 2020. We hope each represents Campbell Medicine well.”
