NCPA Pharmacist of the Year to deliver 2016 commencement address

Campbell University 2016 Winter Commencement

National Community Pharmacists Association 2015 Willard B. Simmons Independent “Pharmacist of the Year” Joseph Moose will deliver the commencement address at Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences’ 27th annual hooding and graduation ceremony on Friday, May 13, 2016. The ceremony is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center on Campbell University’s main campus in Buies Creek.

Moose has a distinguished pharmacy career and is at the forefront of efforts to make independent community pharmacies an integral part of a more coordinated and efficient health care delivery system.  He is the Lead Community Pharmacy Coordinator for Community Care of North Carolina, Inc. (CCNC) which is a federally-funded, $15 million grant through the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation, which supports experimental pilot programs looking for best practices (i.e., better health outcomes, lower costs, etc.) for implementation on a national scale.  In this role, he has built a network of over 200 high quality community pharmacies that strive to offer enhanced value to payors.

In addition to his role with the CCNC, Moose is a co-owner of Moose Pharmacy where he has established collaborative practice agreements with local physicians to integrate community pharmacists into a patient-centered medical home. Moose has served as a primary preceptor with the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Community Pharmacy Residency Program and as a preceptor for students completing introductory and advanced practice experiential education rotations with Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and Wingate University School of Pharmacy.  He is on a variety of committees in North Carolina, including chairperson for the state’s Medicaid Drug Utilization Review.

Moose earned a PharmD from Campbell University School of Pharmacy as a member of its charter class. He has previously been a recipient of the M. Keith Fearing, Jr. Community Pharmacy Practice Award and serves as a member of the Dean’s Board of Advisors.
