Buies Creek, N.C.—Dr. Andrew Wakefield, who was named dean of the Campbell Divinity School in May, will be the featured speaker at the school’s annual Fall Biblical Lectures, Monday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. in Butler Chapel. Wakefield’s presentation is a study of the Gospel of Mark titled “The Urgent Kingdom of God.” The lectures are free and open to the public.
Wakefield is a 1983 summa cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University. He went on to earn the Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., then earned his Ph.D. in New Testament from Duke University in 2000.
His dissertation, “Where to Live: The Hermeneutical Significance of Paul’s Citations of Scripture in Galations 3:10-14,” was published by Brill Academic Publishers and the Society of Biblical Literature. More recently, in addition to numerous scholarly articles, Wakefield has produced a finished manuscript for the teaching of New Testament Greek. Wakefield has been a member of the Divinity School faculty since 1997 and currently holds the Lewis Edward and Martha Barnes Tyner Chair of Bible.
