Campbell University faculty joined hundreds of freshmen and transfer students in Turner Auditorium Sunday for this year’s New Student Convocation. Campbell University President Dr. Jerry Wallace welcomed students and encouraged them to work hard and persevere through Graduation Day. “We’re beginning with you with the end in mind. We’re already seeing you as a graduate of Campbell University,” said Wallace. “We want to help you be successful.” To symbolize the University’s commitment and purpose, faculty members and administrators placed a gold medallion around the neck of each new student. The medallions, given on behalf of the Alumni Association, are engraved with the new Campbell University seal. “As they graduate four years from now, that seal will be on their diploma, so it ties from the beginning to the end,” said Dr. Dennis Bazemore, Vice President for Student Life. “I hope they’ll gaze on the medallion, and see the purpose and the mission of this school and what we stand for.”
