RALEIGH – Campbell Law School’s Old Kivett Advocacy Council (OKAC) hosted the 2019 Richard A. Lord Moot Court Competition, Sept. 25-28, at the law school. Seventy second-year students and more than 60 guest judges participated in the competition, according to organizers.
The final round was judged by former Campbell Law professor and competition namesake Richard A. Lord, alongside Jaime Williams, and North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Chris Dillon.
Kelsey Myers and Kenya Glover were named winners of the competition, while Sarah Izzell and Adam Miller also served as finalists. The semi finalists were Savannah Singletary and Weldon Caotes, and the quarter finalists were Bria Colon and Madison Sides.
The Richard Edmunson Award was presented to Singletary for Best Overall Advocate. Additionally, Myers received the overall best oralist during the final championship round.
“Congratulations to all of the teams that competed in the Richard Lord Moot Court Competition,” organizers wrote in an email. “It was a long week, but all of the participants did an amazing job. Once again we thank everyone that participated in the competition this year.”
Comprised of 15 third-year and second-year students, the OKAC annually organizes the Richard A. Lord Intramural Moot Court Competition, the Campbell Law Negotiation Intramural Competition, and the Richard T. Bowser Intramural Client Counseling Competition.
