Old Kivett Advocacy Council Hosts Richard A. Lord Moot Court Competition

RALEIGH, NC – The Old Kivett Advocacy Council has announced the results of the 2011 Richard A. Lord Moot Court Competition, which took place at the Campbell University Norman A. Wiggins School of Law from September 21-24, 2011. Approximately 120 second-year students and 350 guest judges from around the state participated in the competition.

Every student round had a three attorney panel of judges, unprecedented for a law school moot court competition. “This type of professional feedback in every round of the competition accelerates the ability of our students to become superior advocates,” said Dean Melissa Essary.

The final round was judged by Professor Richard A. Lord, Justice Paul Newby, Former Solicitor General Christopher Browning, and Ms. Angela Haas.

The winners of the competition were:

Overall Winners: Adam Mallon and David Williams

Finalists: Jonathan Lovejoy and Michael Lovejoy

Best Brief: Ashley Fillippeli and Marissa Jensen

Best Oralist: Scarlett Vanstory
