The Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences welcomed 54 members of the PA Class of 2028 to campus today as they began their two-year journey toward becoming healthcare professionals.
Orientation provided plenty of opportunities for students to have fun while getting to know their classmates and meeting the faculty and staff who will teach, encourage and support them throughout the program. The day marked the beginning of new friendships, meaningful mentorships and a shared commitment to learning, service and compassionate patient care.
The Class of 2028 includes 4 students who are participating in the dual MPAP/Master of Science in Clinical Research and six are pursuing the dual MPAP/Master of Science in Public Health degree.
“Welcoming a new class is always an exciting moment for our program,” said Dr. Laura Gerstner, chair and director of the Campbell University PA Program. “These 54 students bring diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives that will enrich our learning community. Our faculty and staff look forward to supporting them as they grow together, develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide compassionate, patient-centered care, and prepare to make a meaningful difference in the communities they will serve.”
Nine members of the class are first-generation college students, one is a military veteran and three earned their undergraduate degrees from Campbell University.
The class also represents a broad geographic reach. Students come from 17 states—North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Indiana, Missouri, California, Utah, Tennessee, Iowa, Oregon, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Virginia and Michigan. The student traveling the greatest distance to join the Campbell PA family is an international student from Finland, followed by two students from California. The student whose hometown is closest to campus comes from Angier, North Carolina.
As they begin this demanding and rewarding journey together, members of the PA Class of 2028 will gain the knowledge, clinical skills and professional experiences needed to serve patients and communities with excellence. Today’s welcome was only the beginning, and the entire Campbell PA community looks forward to supporting and celebrating the class throughout the next two years.
