Partnership to expand educational access for N.C. corrections employees

Campbell University announced a new partnership this week between the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and Campbell Adult and Online Education to expand educational opportunities for NCDAC employees through discounted tuition. This partnership supports employees pursuing online undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as those enrolled at the University’s Fort Bragg, Pope Air Force Base and Camp Lejeune campuses.

“Through this collaboration, NCDAC staff will have increased access to high-quality, flexible, and affordable education designed to support professional growth and career advancement,” said Adult & Online Education Dean Nicole Winget.

She added that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening North Carolina’s workforce by investing in the continued growth, education and professional development of its dedicated public servants. At the same time, this collaboration advances Campbell University’s mission to lead with purpose, service, and innovation in education.

“This partnership is a meaningful example of how higher education and public service institutions can work together to create opportunities that benefit individuals, agencies, and communities across the state,” Winget said. “By expanding access to affordable online degree programs, we are helping NCDAC employees gain new skills and credentials while continuing their vital work.”

Kelly Morin, assistant dean in Adult & Online Education and director of the Second Chance Initiative, shared that this partnership reflects a deeper investment in Campbell’s long-standing work with NCDAC and in supporting students impacted by incarceration.

“This partnership allows us to promote positive change in prisons not only through our existing programs, but also by investing in the people who serve in these facilities every day,” Morin said. “We hope it helps NCDAC attract and retain dedicated employees who are committed to rehabilitation and to addressing staffing shortages across correctional facilities in the state.”

“Campbell University is honored to work alongside the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction to expand educational access, strengthen the state’s workforce, and support those who serve North Carolina every day,” Winget added.
