Pharmaceutical sciences professor publishes two books

Dr. Antoine Al-Achi, professor of Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences in Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, recently published two books examining naturally occurring chemicals and their associated plants.

Published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Nature’s Chemicals: Botanicals and Others and Nature’s Chemicals and Associated Plants: Botanicals and Others expand upon Al-Achi’s extensive teaching and research in botanical and herbal medicine, pharmaceutics, and pharmaceutical sciences.

Dr. Al-Achi joined Campbell University in 1989 as an assistant professor of pharmaceutics in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.

He earned a doctorate in biomedical sciences and pharmacokinetics from Northeastern University and completed postdoctoral training at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. His scholarly work includes textbooks, book chapters and more than 240 research publications, reviews, posters and presentations.

Dr. Al-Achi teaches courses in pharmaceuticals, biostatistics, botanical and herbal medicine, physical pharmacy and experimental design. He also regularly oversees master’s-level research projects and collaborates with clinicians and other professionals outside Campbell University.

The two new publications reflect Dr. Al-Achi’s longstanding scholarship and interest in botanical medicine and naturally occurring compounds.
