Buies Creek, N.C. – Dr. Antoine Al-Achi, long-time faculty member of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is the first recipient of the Faculty Recognition of Commitment to Research award, a new honor presented by the Campbell University Faculty Development and Research Committee. The award was presented in April at the annual Senior Banquet event.
Since arriving at Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences in 1989, Al-Achi has published 41 refereed research publications, 63 research abstracts, 20 scientific review articles, and one book on botanical medicines. He has produced these works, in addition to writing grants and directing student research programs and theses, while maintaining a full teaching load.
“Campbell University has been good to me for the last twenty-two years,” Al-Achi commented upon receiving the award. “I thank God for Campbell every day.”
According to Dr. Adam English, chair of the Faculty Development and Research Committee, the committee received a wide range of nominations from faculty members across the campus.
“I am extremely pleased with the committee’s choice,” said English. “Dr. Al-Achi is precisely the type of scholar this award is intended to honor – one who has advanced research in his field while remaining beloved by students.”
