Pharmacy program names Dean’s Academic Scholarship recipient

Campbell University 2016 Winter Commencement

Mary-Russell Wagstaff of Wendell, N.C., has been awarded the Dean’s Academic Scholarship at Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition during her first year in the pharmacy program.

Wagstaff is a dual degree student at Campbell, currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Research. This fall she will enter the Doctor of Pharmacy program, and continue working on her master’s degree, completing both degrees in 2017.

Outside of school, Wagstaff works as a pharmacy technician at WakeMed Hospital in Cary, N.C. Through this experience, she is interested in becoming a clinical pharmacy specialist after she graduates.

“I look forward to continuing my professional education so that I may excel as a clinical pharmacist,” Wagstaff said. “Campbell has allowed my dream to become reality, and for that I am forever grateful.”

Wagstaff earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at East Carolina University. During this time, she was involved in undergraduate chemistry research, on-campus tutoring, volunteering at a local pharmacy, and working at an independent pharmacy in Smithfield, N.C.
