Campbell University School of Pharmacy held a black tie Alumni & Friends Recognition Gala on Oct.13, 2007. The event was hosted by the school’s Alumni Association to thank those who contributed to the new pharmacy building, Maddox Hall, as well as the Betty M. Wallace Student Commons. Maddox Hall was dedicated on Oct. 3, 2007.A dinner and silent auction were held in the building’s two large classrooms, and a slide presentation highlighted the school’s history and achievements. The recognition ceremony was held in the James Edward Herring, Sr. Lecture Hall and honored donors who named a room in the new building. Dean Ronald W. Maddox recognized The Pharmacy Network Foundation, Inc. for its generous donation to the school.”I am very touched and humbled by the honor that the Pharmacy Network Foundation, Inc. has bestowed upon me by naming this new building in my honor,” said Maddox. “My hope is that Maddox Hall can serve as a vehicle to help Campbell University School of Pharmacy sustain its foundation of excellence in providing students with an exceptional Christian education.”Mrs. Betty Wallace, the dean’s administrative assistant, was also recognized for her contribution and commitment to the pharmacy program. The Betty M. Wallace Student Commons area in the new building was named in her honor. She will retire in December.”It has been an amazing journey,” she said. “It’s been a joy, and it’s such a warm feeling to see these young men and women come into the School of Pharmacy and leave as professionals.” More than 1,400 students have graduated from the Pharm.D. Program.Associate Dean Dr. Thomas J. Holmes, Jr. was also recognized for his contributions. The Pharmacy Alumni & Advancement Suite, named in his honor, was made possible by a contribution from the Eugene Anderson family. Many donors decided to name rooms in honor or in memory of a family or faculty member who touched their lives. “This evening was a celebration of those who helped make Maddox Hall a reality.
