Buies Creek, N.C.-Internationally known pianist Brenda Bruce will perform at Campbell University’s Scott Concert Hall on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. in the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
Bruce, who is also a harpsichordist and acclaimed teacher, holds a master’s degree in music from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She has appeared in numerous solo and chamber music recitals in North Carolina, the eastern United States and Europe.
In addition, Bruce is known for her expertise in the piano genius of Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin and has presented Chopin recitals throughout North Carolina and France, including a recital at the North Carolina Museum of Art on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Chopin’s death.
Appearing with Bruce will be the Raleigh Symphony String Quartet. Members of the quartet include Izabela Spiewak, violin; Anne Leyland, violin; Xi Yank, viola; and Nathan Leyland, cello. Bruce will perform works by Chopin, including the “Grand Polonaise Brillante,” Opus 11, and “Fantasia on Polish Airs,” Opus 13.
The concert is part of Campbell University’s Artist Performance series.
