Piano virtuoso Jeri-Mae Astolfi to perform at Campbell

Buies Creek, N.C.-Acclaimed pianist Jeri-Mae G. Astolfi will perform in concert at Campbell University’s Scott Concert Hall on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Astolfi, who serves on the board of directors of Piano Arts, a North American piano competition, is a member of the music faculty at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh.

A native of Canada, Astolfi began her musical career at an early age, performing a repertoire of music styles ranging from Renaissance to contemporary. Her musical talent led to the commission, premiere and performance of many new works, both solo and collaborative, and can be heard on CD in two new recordings, “Melange: New Music for Piano” and “Chroma: New Music for Piano.”

Astolfi’s work has also been featured on live radio broadcasts and recordings by Phillip Schroeder, “Music for Piano and Songs of My Affinities.” Composers Giovanni Picchi, Paul Osterfield, Franz Schubert, and Campbell’s own Professor Betty Wishart (Remembrance and ) Toccata II) will be featured in Astolfi’s concert program.

Reviewers have described her style as “Brilliant,” “Phenomenal” and “A pleasure to listen to.”

“I can easily tell you that Jeri-Mae is one of the most remarkable pianists of the century,” Wishart said.

Astolfi will also conduct a piano Master Class Friday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m.
