BUIES CREEK – Over the last 25 years, thousands of biology students have graduated from Campbell University and gone on to medical schools, pharmacy schools, veterinary schools or PA schools.
And most have spent time in Claudia Williams’ classroom.
The 2012 Campbell University Pine Burr Yearbook was officially dedicated to Williams at the CUW Publications Day on April 25.
After studying animal physiology at Berry College and the University of Georgia, Williams came to Campbell in 1987 as a temporary one-year faculty member. Nearly a quarter of a century later, she’s made her mark on the lives of countless biology students who’ve come through her physiology labs and courses.
“My biggest reward is when I get invitations to medical school graduations or PA school graduations,” said Williams. “I think that’s just great.”
With her background in physiology, Williams was involved for many years in the development of a joint Physician Assistant degree program between Campbell and Wake Forest University. When Campbell considered creating its own PA program, Williams helped to write the proposal.
“She has been an excellent proponent of the PA field and has tirelessly worked for the development and growth of our Program,” said Tom Colletti, director of the PA program.
In her spare time, Williams and her husband Vic enjoy gardening and working with their beloved bloodhounds. The Williams’ bred and showed bloodhounds for nearly 30 years. They’re currently working with the Therapy Dog program at the VA hospital in Fayetteville.
