The president of Campbell University’s partner school in Malaysia will serve as commencement speaker at Saturday’s spring graduation ceremony.

Lee Sze Wei, president of Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TAR UC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was named president of the college in 2018. Campbell has collaborated with TAR College in offering a bachelor of science degree program since 1979.

Noted as an outstanding scholar, Lee obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic and Optoelectronic Engineering with First-Class Honors at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in 1994. He subsequently pursued both a Masters of Philosophy and PhD in Digital Communications at UMIST in 1995 and 1998 respectively. President Lee also received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Salford in 1999.

In 2009, Lee was appointed as the Vice President of R&D and Commercialisation, where he served until his appointment as TAR UC President. At R&D, he was instrumental in formulating strategy, policy and framework for the school’s growth, which resulted in UTAR being ranked the second highest among Malaysian universities by Times Higher Education.

Commencement will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center at Campbell’s main campus in Buies Creek, and will feature the majority of Campbell undergraduates from the College of Arts & Sciences, as well graduates from the School of Education and the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. In all, more than 1200 students are expected to receive their degrees over the course of the weekend.

Saturday morning’s commencement is just one of six graduation ceremonies this weekend. Live streaming of all ceremonies can be found hereView the full graduation week schedule below:
