Professor Lee to present at Seizing an Alternative conference

RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law Associate Professor Kevin Lee will present at Seizing an Alternative: Toward an Ecological Civilization, on Friday, June 5 at Pomona College in Claremont, Calif. Lee’s presentation will explore the significance of aesthetics in Whiteheadian legal thought.

A multidimensional legal scholar and teacher with advanced degrees in Christian ethics, religious studies, and philosophy, Lee couples his long-standing interest in the phenomenon of human religiousness with an interest in the emerging networked, globalized society. Lee recently presented at the Law & Society Association’s annual meeting for the second consecutive year, and also authored a piece on how advances in technology and communication are changing the practice of law for the Bloomberg BNA’s Legal Communities Big Law Business blog.

The conference addresses the unsustainability of our technologically and scientifically advanced civilization, including the over-reliance on fossil fuels, carelessness in the management of our technology, and exploitation of the world’s natural resources. The conference aims to push forward a new, ecologically-grounded world-view to address these issues, aligning with the philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead to answer this global crisis.
