BUIES CREEK – Is it possible to participate fully in the ways of a dominant, secular culture while remaining faithful to our identity as the people of God?
Where are the lines between responsible citizenship in a pluralistic society and faithfulness to God’s will as followers of Christ?
What practices and disciplines help people of faith to maintain our integrity and witness in the midst of social pressure or to conform to the world around us? What would it take to maintain faithfulness to God in the face of religious persecution or even violent coercion to deny our faith? How can we cultivate such faithfulness?
These are the questions that shaped the Book of Daniel and that will be the focus of the 2012 Prevatte Biblical Studies Lectures by Dr. Barry Jones, associate professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Campbell University Divinity School. These lectures will provide resources to prepare to lead and teach the 2013 Annual Bible Study on Daniel.
The lectures are scheduled for Nov. 5 in Butler Chapel. The times are 10 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.
