RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law School Associate Professor of Law Greg Wallace will present and participate in a panel discussion at the 2013 North Carolina Bar Association Constitutional Rights & Responsibilities Section Annual Meeting on Friday, Feb. 1. The meeting will include a continuing legal education (CLE) program for legal professionals.
The program, “North Carolina’s Marriage Amendment: On-the-Ground Impact One Year Later,” will provide a thorough overview of the amendment’s impact, which voters passed in May 2012. The program will help guide practitioners on client advisement and examine pending legal challenges to marriage-defining laws.
“This event will help practicing lawyers and local government counsel to better position themselves to address and meet the needs of their clients in situations the new amendment may affect,” said Wallace.
Wallace will present, alongside Austin R. Nimocks of Alliance Defending Freedom, on plain-language comparison and litigation overview. He will later take part in a panel discussion on how the marriage amendment impacts city, county, and state benefit plans. Nimocks and S. Chuck Kitchen of Turrentine Law Firm, PLLC, will join Wallace on the panel.
