Renowned professor to deliver keynote at Carolinas Psychology Conference in Buies Creek

Campbell University’s psychology department announced that Dr. Sarah Gaither will deliver the keynote address at the 50th Carolinas Psychology Conference on April 5 in Buies Creek.

Gaither is the Nicholas J. and Theresa M. Leonardy Associate Professor of Psychology and a Neuroscience and Bass Society Fellow at Duke University. Her research focuses broadly on how a person’s social identities and experiences across the lifespan motivate their social perceptions and behaviors in diverse settings with an emphasis on multiracial and multicultural populations.

Gaither has become a leader in the field of multiple identity and multi-racial research with more than 75 publications and is a recipient of APS’s Rising Star designation, a Society for Experimental Social Psychology Fellow, an SPSP Sage Young Scholar and an SPSSI Michelle Alexander Early Career Awardee. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, The Ford Foundation, The Russell Sage Foundation, The Charles Lafitte Foundation and The Spencer Foundation. 

Gaither has also garnered media attention including The New York Times, Time Magazine, People, BBC and NPR.

The Carolinas Psychology Conference is one of the longest-running undergraduate psychology conferences in the nation. The purpose of this conference is to provide undergraduates in psychology with the opportunity to present their research in front of their peers and faculty in a professional yet friendly setting. 

The conference, which is being hosted by Campbell University, will celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 5.
