Campbell University student, Kristin Ayers Rice, of Mebane, N.C. , received the Gore Servant Leadership Award for her contributions to servant leadership initiatives in her school and her community. The award was presented on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the opening of the Gore Servant Leadership Center through the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business.The purpose of the Gore Center for Servant Leadership is to challenge students and faculty to accept the call to servant leadership through recognition, support and encouragement, said Campbell President Dr. Jerry M. Wallace. The Center will provide opportunities through each of the schools to support students and faculty in developing and cultivating servant leadership skills. For students, it is through course work, internships and other service projects. For faculty, the Gore Center provides expanding opportunities for course development and other endeavors. Rice is a fifth-year student in the School of Business 3/2 program in which students receive both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business within five years. Rice is completing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Trust Management and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance. She will graduate in May 2008.During her educational career, Rice helped restart the Gilbert T. Stephenson Trust Club, serving as its president for the past two years. She is also active in the Baptist Student Union, serving on the Leadership Council and as Community Projects and Missions coordinator. In addition, Rice has served on the BSU Spring Break Mission Team for four years, traveling to Arkansas, Belize, Gulfport, Miss., and other areas. Currently, she works as a mentor to new students and coordinator of the mentor program for the School of Business.She is married to James Nathan Rice, a 2007 Campbell graduate, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David S.
