Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, announced that Dr. John T. Roberson as board chair and chair of the Executive Committee of its Board of Trustees. A longtime higher education leader and former vice president at Campbell University, Roberson has served on the O∆K Board of Trustees since 2021.
The announcement was made by Jennifer L. Waller, O∆K president and chief executive officer.
“Dr. Roberson has been an invaluable member of our Board of Trustees. His decades of leadership in higher education and his dedication to O∆K’s mission make him an outstanding choice for Board Chair,” Waller said.
Roberson is professor of Higher Education Administration in Campbell’s School of Education & Human Sciences. A 2017 faculty/staff initiate of Campbell’s O∆K Circle, he led the effort to revitalize the Circle and serves as its faculty adviser.
Roberson first served Campbell from 1989 to 1996 as assistant vice president for alumni relations and assistant to the president. From 1997 to 2005, he was an executive with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. He returned to Campbell in 2005 as vice president for marketing and planning and went on to serve as vice president for enrollment management and marketing, vice president for enrollment management and assistant to the president, and dean of Adult & Online Education.
Roberson earned his bachelor’s degree from Campbell, his master’s degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Education in higher education administration from North Carolina State University.
Omicron Delta Kappa Society, the National Leadership Honor Society, was founded in Lexington, Virginia, on Dec. 3, 1914. The founders established the O∆K Idea — the belief that individuals representing all phases of collegiate life should collaborate to support their campus and community. O∆K honors and develops leaders and promotes collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship, and service. The Society is located on more than 300 college and university campuses throughout North America. The Society’s national headquarters is located in Lexington, Va.
