Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University’s James O. Roberts, vice president for Business and Treasurer, has been appointed by North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue to serve on the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA).
The NCSEAA provides more than $600 million annually in college grants and scholarships to students in North Carolina.
A native of Mars Hill, N.C., Roberts graduated from North Carolina State University with an undergraduate degree in Business Management. He received a master’s degree in Public Administration from Western Carolina University. Roberts, who has been employed with Campbell since 1995, was named vice president for Business and Treasurer in 2005.
An authority on facilities management and personnel, Roberts served as assistant director of the Physical Plant at Mars Hill College and Director of Facilities at Barton County Community College in Kansas and Georgetown College in Kentucky. He was elected president of the Southeastern Region of Physical Plant Directors and also served as secretary/treasurer of that organization. In addition, Roberts served on several committees for the International Association of College and University Facility Managers (APPA) and as regional representative for the organization since 1988. He has also served two terms as vice president for Educational Programs for the APPA.
A resident of Lillington, Roberts is the past president of the Kiwanis Club of Buies Creek and serves as a Sunday school teacher. He and his wife Teresa are the parents of three grown children, Sarah, Will and Andrew.
