Professor Richard Rubin was recently named the 2019 recipient of the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award at the annual Faculty Awards dinner.
Presenting Rubin with the award, Dean O’Mara of the Lundy Fetterman School of Business said, “Professor Rubin brings a wealth of corporate experience to Campbell and into his classroom. His students respect him for his executive experience, but admire him for his commitment to their personal development. He shares a rare combination of qualities with other outstanding teachers and mentors — intellect, expertise, passion, curiosity, high expectations, openness and compassion. Our students are very fortunate to have Professor Rubin as part of our faculty.”
Rubin received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hobart College in Geneva New York, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Syracuse University. He has been an instructor at Campbell University since 2013, teaching courses in human resources and marketing.
“I am very proud and humbled to be selected for this award,” Rubin said. “I want to share this honor with the greater Campbell Community.”
Prior to entering academia, Rubin gained a vast amount of international experience as a senior executive within the ecommerce, marketing and product development practices. He served as the Vice President of Global Web Marketing for IBM, where he developed and executed a groundbreaking ecommerce and merchandising strategy responsible for growing the company’s online revenue to more than $1 billion. He later moved to SAP Corporation, where he served as their Vice President for Global Web & eCommerce.
Rubin’s other accomplishments include successful marketing projects for companies such as Pepsi-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, British Airways and Hertz, to name a few, as well as the successful startup of Richard Rubin Consulting, LLC, in the RTP community.
